CCJ

Are you aged between 8 years and 11 years old?
Camping Club Juniors (CCJ) have official recognation at National level within The Camping and Caravanning Club.
When formed they will fall under Regional and DA Section control.
The formation of such a section is not mandatory but is to be encouraged as a means of fostering interest in camping at an early age.
The divergence of pratices between Regions and DA Sections, which has developed over recent years, has given rise to the need for guidlines to be issued to that Junior Youth Sections, when formed, develop along common lines.
CCJ should be a natural stepping stone for progression into the CCY.

Junior Youth Test

The CCJ Test should be an elementary test of very basic skills and should be seen as a method of encouraging progress and fostering enthusiasm as its main aim.

Training

Training should be given in the basic skills of camping. The skills and basic first aid taught should be elementary and practical, and the instruction given by demonstration-and above all fun.
The training of the CCJ members should be used upon the modules of the CCY Fundamentals of Good Camping, and confined to tent pitching, the code for campers, rubbish disposal, packing of kit and elementary first aid.
CCJ members should not be expected to pitch their tent unaided and enlisting the help of a parent or adult is perfectly in order, of which more information can be obtained via your CCJ leaders or CCY leaders.

CCY

Each DA or section has a youth section where they organise weekends with your own dedicated camping area.

Youth Test

You also have the opportunity to take your youth test before your 18th birthday and if you pass, it allows you to continue with the privileges of a Youth member until you are 21.
An added bonus is if you continue to be a Camping & Caravanning Club member you get reduced membership fees until you are 30.
The Youth test comprises of camping skills such as pitching & erecting a tent, the use of stoves, map reading, first aid etc.

Youth Rallies

Central Counties organize two Youth Rallies, one in the winter and one in the summer.
At each meet there are sports and trophies to be won.
The winter meet sports are all indoors and usually consist of darts, dominos and pool. There is normally a trip to the local bowling alley during the Saturday afternoon, with a nice hot meal when you return.
The summer rally includes 5 aside football, volleyball, netball and fun sports.

You also have the opportunity to attend the National Youth Rally where you have the chance to make friends with youth members from other parts of the UK.
